I love that quote that is the title of this post. It is from Pablo Picasso, it finishes like this: 'The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up.' It's so simple to think that children are not really 'producing' art... but oh how wrong, they are exploring with textures and colours, they are learning what medium they are most comfortable with. They are not limited by the art around them that is created by 'famous artist' that say to them, unless you create art like this, you are no good (yes, that's how I look at art and myself). They are discovering techniques and they are 'experiencing'! It's so calming to watch a child create masterpieces, the products reflect how they were feeling at that time. They often put so much thought into it that their little tongues sneak out, and they are engrossed. This week we are creating with a variety of mediums, as we often do, and we wanted to share some with you! Enjoy!
Cork Painting.
Colour mixing
Some tape monsters got to our light table
Our paper towel tube creations. Some took on a personality, and some became part of our playtime, and some were the canvass for exploration
Some were covered in lots of glue, but still so important to the artist
This one had a dip or two in the paint and LOTS of glue
Results of our provocation from yesterday. I was on the right track when I guessed weaving would be involved, but some became so much more.. this one got tied up and became a kite.
Some advanced weaving skills
Some fancy weaving.
All hanging nicely from our roof.
