Big Art!

In the morning the children arrived to find the furniture had been moved right out of the way to make room for some paint and the odd tool or two. The first thing they noticed was the bubble wrap, and immediately started jumping on it... something we did a few weeks ago. But I had cut them into smaller pieces, so the effect was not the same this time around. So they resorted to popping each bubble individually while sitting a contemplating about where they would like to begin.

You can see paper towel tubes, various potato mashers, IKEA ice cube trays (they make really neat prints), bubble wrap, springy egg cups, tape rolls, amongst other things.

It started out just exploratory, where the children just wanted to see what design each tool made.

We sure loved the designs the potato mashers make.

Although the paper was huge, the children all started on one small corner of the canvas.

Of course there were moments when the bubble wrap's appeal was so much more appealing than that of the big art.

This was my attempt to catch a bubble in action -FAILED!! The children discovered the paint left a bubble film on the end of the tube and if they blew gently a bubble would momentarily appear (I guess that's the bonus of putting dish soap in the paint).

The tubes even left bubbles on the paper.

This is when the fun became even MORE fun!!! Painting became a whole body experience.

Yes, even our tummies got involved. Everything washes out, right? Laughter ensued!
Of course after this, the children kept putting paint on their hand just so they could wash their hands (that is the favourite thing to do amongst the toddlers right now- not complaining, but glad they love to wash their hands)

Even our slippers got in on the action!
It was a wonderful moment of experience and laughter. The bathroom was covered in paint, our floor was covered, and the moms and dads can confirm that even our hair was covered in paint!
When you walk in the door to the centre you would spot a sign that says, 'please excuse the mess, we are making memories.' I think today was one of those memorable moments!
